Bird Fair held at Jahangirnagar University

The Bird Fair-2020 was held on Friday at the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus amid much fanfare and festivity.

JU Zoology Department in collaboration with Wildlife Rescue Center (WRC), Bangladesh Bird Club and Aronnyok Foundation organized the fair with a view to raising mass awareness to conserve birds in the environment.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam inaugurated the fair as the chief guest by releasing balloons at the ZahirRaihan auditorium premises of the university around 11.00 am..

Addressing the inaugural session, she said, “Birds play an important role in balancing the environment. So we should protect birds as well as other wild animals. We all have to work together for the conservation of birds. I hope that this event will be continued in every year to raise awareness about conserve birds among the people.”

Presided over by the convener of the fair organising committee and teacher of JU Zoology Department Prof. KamrulHasan, JU treasurer Sheikh Md. ManzurulHaq, Register RahimaKaneez,eminent ornithologist DrEnam Al Haqueaddressed the function as special guests, among others.

The day-long fair was featured with inter-university bird identification competition, photography exhibition on birds, drawing competition for children, bird watching competition through telescope, quiz competition, annual report presentation on bird and award giving ceremony.

Students of different schools, colleges and universities took part at their respective events at the fair.

Mentionable, JU Zoology department is organizing this fair since 2002 with a view to raising mass awareness about preserving birds.
