Opener Tamim Iqbal became the highest run-scorer in Twenty20 internationals for Bangladesh as Tigers took on Pakistan in the three-match T20 Internationals opener at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday.
The opener hit 39 off 34 balls and went past Shakib Al Hasan to become Bangladesh’s highest run-taker in T20Is.Tamim Iqbal began the day on 1,961 runs, only 6 runs behind Shakib’s haul. The left-hander took four matches less to break the Shakib’s record. Shakib scored 1567 runs in 76 matches for Bangladesh.
Earlier, Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah Riyad won the toss and chose to bat first against Pakistan.
Pakistan's new-look bowling restricted Bangladesh to 141-5. Only openers Mohammad Naim, who hit 43 off 41 and Tamim Iqbal batted with authority.
Naim smashed two sixes and three boundaries while Iqbal had four boundaries and a six in his knock.
Skipper Mahmudullah chipped in with a quick 14-ball 19 which included two boundaries.
