20 arrested after BCL infighting at CU

Police arrested 20 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) following a clash between two factions of its Chittagong University (CU) unit on Wednesday night.

Confirming the news, Proctor of CU Prof SM Monirul Hasan said a team of law enforcers conducted a drive in two halls (Suhrawardy and Shah Amanat) of the university and arrested the BCL men.

Earlier on Wednesday, four activists were injured in infighting between the activists of two shuttle train compartment-based groups -- Bijoy Group and CFC Group -- on the campus, according to police.

Meanwhile, the Chittagong University’s (CU) iconic shuttle train services remained suspended since Thursday morning amid a strike by a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) faction on the campus following an internal clash.
