State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Mahbub Ali underlined the need for creating more skilled manpower to promote international standard tourism services.
“There are still huge job opportunities for local workforce in tourism sector as currently many foreigners have been remaining employed in the country’s hospitality industry,” he said.He was addressing a freshers’ reception of Dhaka University’s Tourism and Hospitality Management Department in a city hotel .
“Universities of the country have been introduced various tourism related courses to create skilled manpower,” Ali said, adding that Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, built by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is generous to form skilled manpower with its training facilities.
Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation is establishing new ‘National hotel and Tourism Training Institute’ in Barishal and Dhaka respectively to create more skilled workforce, he further said.
Ali sought private sector’s investment with innovative work plans as government boosting this industry.
Bangladesh Tourism Board is implementing ‘Tourism Master Plan’ for developing the tourism industry under the supervision of Civil Aviation and Tourism ministry by next 18 months, Ali also mentioned.
The function was chaired by Chairman of DU Tourism and Hospitality Management Department professor Dr Badruzzaman Bhuiyan while Bangladesh Tourism Board CEO Dr Bhubon Chandra Biswas and Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka General Manager Stephen James Peter, among others, were spoke at the function.
