Members of Border Guard Bangladesh seized 18 gold bars weighing 2kg from Gatipara border on Sunday.

Lt Col Selim Reza, commanding officer of BGB-49 battalion, said tipped off,  a team of BGB conducted a drive in the area.

Sensing danger, smugglers fled the scene leaving a packet and the BGB team recovered the gold bars worth Tk 92.40 lakh from the packet, said the official.

A case was filed.
