2 killed in Rajshahi road accident

A motorcyclist and a pedestrian were killed in road accident at Mohonpur upazila in Rajshahi on Sunday morning.

The accident took place at 9:00 am in front of Jamuna Jute Mill on Naogaon-Rajshahi highway at Mougachi union of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as motorcyclist Sifat Hossain, 20, son of Nazmul Hossain, hailing from Shah Makhdum police station area of the Rajshahi district and pedestrian Khayer Ali, 50, son of late Barkat Ali, from Keshorhat area of the Mohonpur upazila.

Confirming the news, Mostak Ahmmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mohonpur Police Station, said that the motorcycle hit a pedestrian on which Sifat was riding and skidded off the road after he lost control over its the steering in the area, leaving the duo injured.

Later, the injured were taken to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) where duty doctors declared them dead, the OC said, adding that the bodies has been kept at the hospital’s morgue for autopsies.
