Digital Bangladesh Day observed in Beijing

Amid much festivity and fanfare, the Digital Bangladesh Day 2019 was celebrated in Beijing on Thursday. Marking the day in a befitting manner, The Bangladesh Embassy in Beijing held a discussion to create awareness among the people.

 Bangladesh Ambassador to China Mahbub Uz Zaman presided over the event. The speakers discussed on the significance of the observance of the day in the light of the policies ingrained through Digital Bangladesh as envisaged by the roadmap of Vision 2021 to transform Bangladesh into a Digital Economy by 2021 and a knowledge-based economy by 2041.

They touched upon the challenges emanating from the 4R technologies and highlighted the remarkable achievements of the Government in digitization of the four pillars of the Digital Bangladesh in the areas namely as: i) connectivity with people, ii) high-tech ICT & industrial development, iii) e-governance and iv) human resource development.

The speakers remarked about the huge potentials of IT products, solutions, call center and big data management where Bangladesh could generate not only employment opportunities for the youth but also can increase export earnings.

They observed that Bangladesh has the potential to increase the export from the IT sector and transform it as the number one export earning sector in future. The Speakers stressed on organizing trade and investment promotional events aimed at high-end technology transfer and foreign direct investment from China.

They underscored the need to deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation aimed at more training, research and scholarships to potential Bangladeshi IT graduates, professionals and scientific researchers.

They emphasized that Mission needs to employ digitized ways and means to brand Bangladesh abroad and to provide effectively appropriate information and service. Ambassador highlighted on the theme of the day and stressed that IT and social media could act as a major catalyst to transform Bangladesh into a developed economy by 2041.

 He elaborated the significance of the day and stressed on the need to hold events promoting Bangladesh’s image and national interest. He concluded the discussion session with a vote of thanks.

It was reiterated that all the wings will work together in a team spirit for better coordination so as to realize the Vision 2021 objectives of the current government.
