Five-day remand sought for Sangram editor

Police sought a five-day remand for the editor of Bangla Daily Sangram in a case filed under Digital Security Act on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday evening, Abul Asad was taken to police’s safe custody following an attack on his office for running a report terming executed war criminal Abdul Quader Molla a “martyr”.

Inspector (Operation) of Hatirjheel Police Station Golam Azam, also investigation officer of the case, filed the remand prayer with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court.

Earlier in the day, Afzal Hossain, a freedom fighter, filed the case against the Sangram editor under the Digital Security Act.

Molla, infamously known as 'the butcher of Mirpur', was hanged on Dec 12, 2013 after conviction by the International Crimes Tribunal.
