The president of a primary school’s governing body in Natore's Gurudaspur upazila has allegedly threatened three teachers of the institution with ‘bad consequence’ following poor exam performance of his son.
Benazir Ahmmed went to Narayanpur Government Primary School and allegedly used abusive language towards the three teachers including the headmaster of the school on Sunday morning.Even Benazir physically assaulted two assistant teachers, the victims claimed.
Benazir’s son, a second grader of the school, sat for the math examination on Saturday.
The victims claimed that the president of the governing body visited the school in the morning and demanded explanation about ‘poor performance’ by his son in math examination. He created chaos on the school premises. At one stage, Benazir pushed Biplob Rana, an assistant teacher of the school, down to the ground and used ‘inappropriate words towards’ him. Ziaul Haque, another assistant teacher, also experienced same treatment from Benazir when he came forward to stop him.
Benazir also ‘used abusive languages’ towards headmaster of the school Mosa Nazma Khatun and threatened her of dire consequence with ‘knives’, they alleged.
However, rejecting the allegations, Benazir said, “Assistant teacher Biplob Rana beat my son in the exam hall. As a result, my son couldn’t do well in the math exams.”
“An altercation took place with them when I went the school to take information over this matter. I didn’t assault anyone,” he claimed.Headmaster Nazma Khatun said, “Benazir Ahmmed has been misbehaving with the teachers of the school without any reason for a long time. Today’s incident is an insult to all teachers.”
“We demand proper justice in the incident. We have filed a written complaint to the upazila education officer to get rid of his misconduct.” she added.
Gurudaspur upazila primary education officer Md Rofiqul Islam said, “We have sent an assistant education officer to the school to look into allegations against Benazir Ahmmed. We will fix our steps once we get the report from the officer.”
