Man arrested for shaving wife’s head in Bogura

Police have arrested a man for his alleged involvement in shaving his wife’s head forcibly following an altercation over a trifling matter.

The barbaric incident took place in Nandigram Upazila of Bogura.

According to media report, a glass jar of pickles got broken after unconsciously falling it from hands of Marjia Khatun Rupali, 22, on Thursday morning.

Following the incident, Rupali’s husband Morshedul Islam beat her up mercilessly and shaved her head forcibly.

Confirming the news, Shawkat Kabir, officer-in-charge of Nandigram Police Station, said the detention of ‘Morshedul’, an inhabitant of Yusufpur village, was made early on Friday.

“A jar of pickles broke into pieces after falling from the victim’s hand on Thursday. Following the incident, she got involved in an altercation with her mother-in-law. On being told about the matter, Morshed beat her at night,” OC Shawkat said.

“At one stage, Morshed shaved his wife’s head and locked her in a room. The woman informed her parents on Friday and they rescued her with the help of local inhabitants.”

Bringing allegations of dowry against him, woman’s mother filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Nandigram Police Station on Friday.
