A group of unidentified people threatened the owners of the press from where the daily Asian Age is printed not to publish the newspaper or face consequences, an official said Wednesday.
Shoeb Chowdhury, chairman of the Board of Editors of the newspaper, said the Times Printing Press owners were now scared to print his daily following the threat on Tuesday. He added law enforcers were helping all out to probe the incident.He said, “This is an attack on the government and the freedom of the press …. media must be united so that such incidents are not repeated.”
A general diary (GD) was filed with Tejgaon Police Station in this connection (GD number 1156). Officer-in-Charge of Tejgaon Police Station has assigned an officer to take necessary actions in this regard immediately, the official said.
