 ‘Challenges of Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100: Role of Institute of Water Modelling’ Conference held

Institute of Water Modeling (IWM), organized a Conference to exchange opinions with their users as service provider and to let them know about their initiatives, experiences and expertise; themed ‘Challenges of Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 : Role of IWM’ on Wednesday 20 November 2019 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka.

Mr Zaheed Farooque MP, Hon’ble State Minister, Ministry of Water Resources graced the occasion as honorable Chief Guest. He mentioned, IWM's mathematical model has played significant role in solving various complex water problems in the country and abroad.

The Conference was chaired by Mr Kabir Bin Anwar, Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources. He thanked the service recipients of IWM for using mathematical models. He presented a paper titled ‘Salient Features of Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100’

In the Technical Session, Professor Dr M. Monowar Hossain, Executive Director, IWM directed the conference paper presentation followed by discussion by the designated discussants. Mr Abu Saleh Khan, Deputy Executive Director (Operations) of IWM presented ‘State of the Art Mathematical Modelling, Survey & ICT-GIS in Water Resources Development of Bangladesh’ titled paper.  

Speakers at the event included representatives from the World Bank, DHI-Denmark, Water Development Board, Bangladesh Haor and Wetland Development Board, Dhaka WASA, LGED, Public Health Engineering Department, Barend Multipurpose Development Authority, BUET, Mongla Port Authority, Chittagong Port Authority, BIWTA, Bangladesh bridge authority, Bangladesh Water Partnership participated in the scheduled discussions to share their experience regarding the service of IDB-UM.

High officials, experts and decision-makers from the relevant ministries, development partners, representatives from different government and non-government organizations from home and abroad were present among the guests.
