Stolen newborn girl rescued after 6 days in Narsingdi

Police on Tuesday night rescued a newborn girl six days after she was stolen from Marie Stopes Maternity Clinic in Narsingdi on Wednesday last.

Confirming this to media, Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl SP) of Narsingdi Sadar Circle Shahed Ahmed said, “Police have recovered the newborn girl from Narsingdi Railway Station and arrested a Yasmin Akter, 26, over the incident of stealing.”

The rescued baby has been handed her over to her family members, he said.

He also said that police were interrogating the accused woman and would inform the detail later.

Earlier on November 10, Sakhina Begum, wife of Shah Alam of Kumradi village at Shibpur upzila of the district, gave birth to a baby girl at the Marie Stopes Maternity Clinic. Her girl was stolen from the clinic on November 13.
