BNP’s Amir Khasru, others stuck in CMCH’s lift for 15 minutes

A number of BNP leaders, including its standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, got stuck for 15 minutes in a lift of Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) on Monday.

The incident took place at 2:00pm today.

NTV staff cameraperson of Chattogram office and also one of the victims of the incident Sumon Goswami informed that some 15-20 leaders of the BNP, including Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, city BNP president Dr Shahdat Hossain, Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) leader Dr Khurshid Jamil, went to CMCH to visit the persons who were injured in a gas pipeline explosion at a house in Patharghata.

The lift carrying some persons from the 4th floor of the orthopedic ward remained stuck for about 15 minutes near the ground floor.

Being informed, Amir Khasru’s private secretary Md Selim, who was waiting at the ground floor, and other workers rushed there and after hectic effort they were able to help trapped persons to get out from the lift. 

Lift operator Satyapriya Barua claimed that the lift of the hospital is running for 24 hours.

“Technical fault may be the cause such an incident, he said.
