Nayeemul Abrar’s death: Tk 10 crore in compensation sought

A writ petition has been filed seeking compensation Tk10 crore in the death of Dhaka Residential Model College student Nayeemul Abrar Rahat.

The petition was filed with the High Court (HC) bench of Justice Enayetur Rahim and Justice Mostafizur Rahman on Thursday.

Supreme Court lawyer Faizullah Fayez filed the writ petition.

Rahat, 15, a student of class-nine of Dhaka Residential Model College, died after getting electrocuted at a programme titled “Ki Ananda”, a function of the Daily Prothom Alo’s magazine for juveniles Kishor Alo, on November 1.

Following the death, Rahat’s father Md Mojibur Rahman filed a case with the court of Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Haque.

Rahat’s father, in his petition, accused the death of his son was caused by the negligence of the organisers.
