Police arrested four more persons in connection with the case lodged for throwing Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute principal Farid Uddin Ahmed into a pond by a group of BCL activists on Tuesday.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandrima Police Station Golam Mostofa confirmed this to media.Golam Mostofa said, “Police have arrested them after conducting searches in separate parts of the city on Tuesday. They have been arrested after being identified from CCTV footage.”
With the fresh arrests of the four, the total number of arrestees rose to 13, he said.
Meanwhile, police have not been able to arrest those, who were named in the FIR.
On November 2, a group of ‘Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists’ of Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute threw Farid Uddin Ahmed into the pond on the campus for his refusal to allow two students to fill up forms for examination for inadequate class attendance.
The incident was captured in a surveillance camera.
The principal filed a case with Chandrima Police Station accusing 50 persons at the same night.The accused include joint general secretary of the institute unit of BCL Kamal Hossain Sourav, Murad, Shanta, Bony, Hasibul Hossain Shanta, Salman Tony, Habibul and Maruf.
