Rashed Khan Menon and Fazle Hossain Badsha have been elected president and general Secretary of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh respectively again.

Re-elected general secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha confirmed this to media on Tuesday evening after the end of the last day of the four-day national congress, held at the Institute of Diploma Engineers’ Bangladesh auditorium in the capital.

He said they were re-elected by secret votes.

“Five new members have been added to the 15-member Politburo Committee. The new five are Jyoti Sarkar, Nazrul Islam Haqqani, Ali Ahmed Enamul Haque, Nazrul Haque Nilu and Haji Bashir Ullah,” Badsha added.

Rashed Khan Menon gave welcome speech at press briefing in presence of newly-elected members of the central committee.

A 81-member new committee was formally announced at the closing sessions of the 10th congress of the party.

Workers' Party is one of the key constituents of the ruling Awami League-led Grand Alliance government.
