'Gunfight' kills 'Yaba trader' in Cox's Bazar

A suspected Yaba-trader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Hoakking in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early today.

The deceased was identified as Md Selim, son of Kadir Hossain of Rohingya Camp in the upazila's Hoakking Chakmarkul.

Teknaf Police Station’s officer-in-charge Pradip Kumar Das said “Tipped-off, a team of police arrested Rohingya robber and Yaba trader Md Selim. Later, police conducted a drive based on the information of Selim while sensing the presence of the law enforcers, drug dealers opened fire, forcing them to fire back that triggered the gunfight."

Later, police found bullet-hit Selim and took him to hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.
