Non-MPO teachers begin indefinite hunger strike

Teachers and employees of non-MPO educational institutions have gone on a hunger strike for an indefinite period demanding enlistment of their institutions under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme.

They started their programme in front of the National Press Club at 10:00 am on Monday.

Earlier on Sunday, the protesting teachers sat in a meeting with education minister Dr Dipu Moni at International Mother Language Institute. The minister urged the teachers to go back to the class rooms pledging to implement their demand of MPO scheme. But the protesting teachers are not happy with the pledge of the minister.
