Joint secretary, 4 others sued for rape attempts

A case has been filed against five persons including a joint secretary for allegedly molesting a woman and trying to rape her.

The victim woman filed the case with Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 accusing the five persons on Wednesday.

The accused are Abdul Khaleque, 53, Antor, 35, Abu Bakkar Prodhan, 45, Robiul Islam Robi, 38 and Milton, 40.

According to the case statement, the prime accused Abdul Khaleque is a joint secretary as well as director of a project (UPEHDP) under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives.

Accused Abdul Khaleque, with the help of the other four persons, molested the victim and attempted to rape her in the name of giving a job on September 21. Even they threatened to kill her, if she revealed the incident to anyone, said the case statement. 

The victim was suggested to file the case with the court when she went to the Bangshal Police Station following the incident. Later, the victim filed the case with the above mentioned court under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act two days ago (Wednesday).
