Firearm licence holders can’t work as guards: Ministry

Mentioning that firearm licence holders cannot work as security personnel for other persons or organisations, the government says licences of those engaged in such practice will be annulled immediately.

The Home Ministry issued a notification on Monday in this regard.

As per the Firearms Licence Supply, Renewal and Use Policy-201, a person can use or carry his/her licensed firearm for his self-protection but he/she cannot work as a bodyguard for another person or persons or as a guard for protecting any property.

The ministry asked those who are working as guards with their licensed firearms to refrain from the practice.

It also said the firearms cannot be displayed in such a way that annoys others.

Legal action will be taken against those who will violate the order, the notification said.
