Govt launches ‘Land Service Hotline 16122’

The Ministry of Land has launched a hotline ‘16122’ under the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Special Initiative ‘Digital Bangladesh’ to reach land related services at the doorsteps of the people and check corruption.

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury today inaugurated the operation of the ‘Land Service-Hotline 16122’ at a function at the CIRDAP International Conference Center in the city, said a press release here.

“Our goal is to ensure maximum utilization of land and people-oriented services through transparent, efficient, modern, accountable and sustainable land management,” the minister said, speaking in the function as the chief guest.

Service receivers can easily get solutions to various land related problems by making calls to the ‘Land Service-Hotline 16122’, he said, adding, besides, they will be able to learn about the existing land laws and regulations along with getting essential information and suggestions related to the land services through the hotline.

Land Secretary Md Muksodur Rahman Patwary addressed the inaugural function as the special guest while System Analyst and Deputy Secretary of the ministry Md Doulutuzzaman Khan presented a demonstration on the operating procedure of the Land Service-Hotline 16122.

Later, the minister answered various questions asked by the journalists on the hotline service after the inaugural function.

Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Land Umme Fatema Nazma Begum, Land Appeal Board Chairman Md Abdul Hannan, Land Reform Board Chairman Ummul Hasna, Director General of Land Record and Survey Department Md Taslimul Islam, Additional Secretaries of the Land Ministry Md Mujibur Rahman, Md Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Md Abdul Haque, Anis Mahmud, Md Ataur Rahman and Director of Land Administration Training Centre Md Abdul Hye were present at the function among others.

According to the press release, the hotline 16122 will remain open from 9 am to 5 pm every working day while service recipients could make calls from any mobile telecom operator and land phone. Regular call charges will be applicable to get hotline services.

The main purpose of the hotline service is to ensure emergency internal communication, addressing the complaints quickly and receiving complaints from the service receiver while the complainant’s name, address or identity will not be disclosed in any way.

The concerned officials will resolve the land-related complaints under the higher authority’s supervision.

The land service hotline is integrated with the national land information and service platform called ‘Zami’.
