SM Golam Kibria Shamim, a government-listed contractor also known to be Jubo League central committee leader, has been remanded for ten days in two cases involving drugs and illegal.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmuda Akter placed him on a ten-day remand as Gulshan police produced him before the court and pleaded to put him on total 14-day remand in the three cases.Two cases were lodged against Shamim under Narcotic Control and Money Laundering acts while another one was filed against Shamim and his seven bodyguards on charge of creating panic among people by brandishing firearms, according to RAB official.
The law enforcers, earlier in the day, handed over Shamim and his seven bodyguards to Gulshan police.
Members of RAB arrested Shamim after raiding his house and office at Niketon in the capital on Friday. The RAB members also seized eight firearms, a huge amount of ammunition, Fixed Deposit Receipt (FDR) worth Tk 165 crore and around Tk 1.8 crore in cash and some foreign liquor.
