Rabbani loses moral ground to be DUCSU GS post any longer: VP Nur

Removed BCL central general secretary Golam Rabbani has lost the moral ground to hold the post of DUCSU general secretary any longer, DUCSU vice president Nurul Haque Nur said on Monday.

Referring to moral degradation, the DUCSU VP also expressed his opinion that removed BCL central president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon should also walk away from the senate.

Meanwhile, Shovon stepped down from Dhaka University (DU) Senate on Monday afternoon, according to media reports.

“Shovon has been selected a student representative for the university senate and Rabbani holds the post of DUCSU GS. I think, they should step down from their posts before anyone demands their resignations if they have minimum personality,” he made the remark while talking to newsmen.

Nurul Haque Nur said it will set a bad example if he (Golam Rabbani) still holds the post of DUCSU general secretary.

“Golam Rabbani has been removed from the post of BCL central general secretary amid various controversies and allegations of extortion. If he continues his role as a student representative of the DUCSU, it will be a shameful matter in the history of Dhaka University as well as student politics all over the country,” he said.

The DUCUS VP also said it (to hold the post of DUCSU GS by Rabbani) will also give a message that one can easily escape punishment in spite of doing irregularities.

Earlier, Shovon and Rabbani were removed from their respective posts amid various controversies and allegations of irregularities two days ago.

No 1 vice-president Al Nahean Khan Joy and No 1 joint secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee of the ruling party’s student wing were given the charge of acting BCL president and acting general secretary respectively.
