The doctors of the government hospitals in Chattogram on Wednesday boycotted biometric attendance as a symbolic protest demanding cancelation of gazette notification issued by the ministry of health.
The gazette issued on September 3, sought biometric attendances of six months in case of promotion of health cadre employees, which irked the government doctors of Chattogram.Terming the gazette discriminatory and insulting for doctors, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) of Chattogram unit demanded cancelation of such order.
Dr Faisal Iqbal, general secretary of Chattogram BMA told media that biometric attendance not needed for promotion in any cadre of Bangladesh, only biometric attendance of doctors has been sought. It's disrespectful to doctors.
He said doctors of Chattogram took a decision in an emergency meeting of BMA on Tuesday to protest such insulting order of the ministry boycotting biometric attendance on Wednesday.
