Science Lab bombing on cops might be a test case before any big attack: Quader

Popular News

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday said that the bomb attack on police in Science Laboratory area in the capital might be a test case before carrying out any big attack in future.

Quader, who is also the general secretary of ruling Awami League, came up with the remark while briefing the journalists at the secretariat.

The minister said police are investigating the attack and they are on alert.

While replying to a question regarding Islamic State’s (IS) claim over the attack, Quader said that he cannot say anything about it.

Earlier on Saturday, two policemen, including a security detail of LGRD Minister Tazul Islam, were injured when a bomb went off at Science Lab intersection.

The bomb was thrown from the footbridge at the intersection around 9:20pm, said police and eyewitnesses.

However, injured security detail ASI AB Shahabuddin said that it seemed to him that the bomb was thrown from Dhanmondi Road-1.

Later, the Middle East based militant outfit Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the bomb attack.

In a twitter message of the ‘Site Intel Group’, it wrote on Sunday: “IS Claims credit for bomb blast on police in Bangladeshi capital”.
