NWPGCL signs MoU with Chinese CMC

State-owned North-West Power Generation Company Limited, Bangladesh has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday with China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CMC) for development of a series of renewable power projects at different locations in Bangladesh.

NWPGCL Managing Director Engr. AM Khurshedul Alam and CMC chief Ruanguang signed the MoU for implementing renewable power projects. 

Prime Minister’s Energy Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid, Power Division’s senior secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, BPDB Chairman Khaled Mahmood and senior official concern attended the signing ceremony at Hotel InterContinental in the city.

According to MoU, the company intends to implement several renewable energy projects like Pabna 60MW Grid connected Photovoltaic, Sirajganj 100MW Grid connected Photovoltaic, Pyra 50MW wind power and some other solar power projects.

The CMC will help procure foreign direct investment (FDI) for implementing the projects.

The power projects will be implemented by 50-50 ownership between NWPGCL and CMC.
