Youth killed in Sylhet road accident

A youth was killed and 12 others injured in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a human hauler (locally known Leguna) at Pargana Bazar area on Sylhet-Tamabil highway of Sadar upazila in Sylhet on Monday noon.

The deceased was identified as Sohel Mia, 26, son of Lilu Mia, hailing from Purbo Shrirampur of Daskhin Surma upazila.

Eight of them injured were identified as Sumit Das, 20, Tuhin Mitra, 22, Sakib, 20, Sabbir, 25, Salam, 14, Pritom Pal, 18, Joynal, 32 and Dipak, 28.

The injured are undergoing treatment at Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.

Locals said that the accident took place a Jaflong-bound CNG auto-rickshaw collided with the human hauler at 11:00 am at the area, leaving all passengers of human hauler injured.

Later the injured were taken to the hospital where duty doctor declared Sohel dead.

Abdul Qayum Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police's Shahporan Police Station, confirmed the matter
