The committee for bringing discipline on roads and curbing road accidents on Thursday submitted a set of 111 recommendations to Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader
The committee, headed by former shipping minister Shajahan Khan, handed over the recommendations while exchanging views at the secretariat this morning.Of the recommendations, 50 are for fast implementation while 32 are for short-term and 29 long-term.
After receiving the recommendations, Quader said they are considering to form a taskforce to curb road accidents and bring discipline in the transport sector.
"The committee has finalized a report of the recommendations through pointing out the causes of road crashes in seven consecutive meetings," said Obaidul Quader.
Obaidul Quader said the recommendations will be placed in a meeting of National Road Safety Council slated for September 5.
