Five active members of banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) have been arrested on Wednesday, RAB sources said.
Among five, four JMB men were nabbed by Rapid Action Battalion 1 (RAB-1) from Uttar Badda area in the capital and while RAB-8 arrested another JMB man form Muladi in Barishal.The four arrested militants from Dhaka were identified as Md. Rafiqul Islam alias Yusuf, 28, son of late Ainuddin Matubbar of Faridpur, Alamgir Hossain, 30, son of Md. Ruhul Amin of Cumilla, Md. Mohidul Islam alias Saifullah, 22, son of Abdullah of Bagerhat, and Md. Harun-Or-Rashid, 28, son of Md. Abdus Salam of Dhaka.
According to the RAB source, they had intelligence information that some active members of JMB regrouped in a meeting in Uttar Badda area in the capital to plan to carry out terror attacks.
Having this information, a team of RAB-1 conducted a drive on the spot in the early hour (Tuesday night at 12:30 am) on Wednesday and arrested four active JMB members.
The RAB team also recovered Jihadi books, 1 Magazine, 2 Laptops, 7 mobile phones, 15 SIM cards, and Tk. 2,900 cash from their possessions.
Meanwhile, a team of RAB-8 also detained a JMB man from Barishal’s Muladi area today.
However, legal actions were in progress against the arrested militants.
