Two journalists, who were admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital’s burn unit after they suffered burns on Tuesday evening in an explosion inside a shop at Mogbazar intersection in the capital, were not out of danger, doctors said on Wednesday.
The burned victims are—Mostafa Monowar Sujon, 44, News Editor of SA Television and Fazlul Haque Shawon, 54, Special Correspondent of online news portal Jagonews24.Dr Samanta Lal Sen, chief coordinator of National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery of the DMCH confirmed the news.
Alongside external burns, they got their airways injured due to inhalation of smoke particles and gases, which the doctors said, a critical condition for any burn injured patients.
Earlier, the journalists sustained burn injuries on Tuesday evening in an explosion inside a shop at Mogbazar intersection in the capital.
Both were rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital and admitted to Burn Unit.
Dr. Meherunnesa Liza, Medical Officer of the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit, said that hands and faces of the both victims were burned. Shawon sustained 24 per cent burn injuries including windpipe burned while Sujon had 11 per cent burn.
