At least two people were killed and two others injured when a bus rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Vatara area in the capital on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Belal, 30, Shyamol, 35, both of them were the passengers of the auto-rickshaw.One of the injured is identified as Abu Sayed, 35, the CNG-auto-rickshaw driver.
Abu Bakkar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Vatara Police Station, said the accident took place at 6:00 am when a speedy highway bus hit the CNG-auto-rickshaw at Coca-Cola area, leaving three passengers of CNG and its driver injured.
Later, locals rescued the injured people and took them to a local hospital. Later, doctors of hospital referred them to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where duty doctors declared Belal and Shyamol dead, he said.
The injured CNG driver Abu Sayed is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) and other passengers at Kurmitola General Hospital, the OC said.
