Bangladeshi trader shot dead in South Africa

A Bangladeshi trader has been gunned down by unidentified miscreants in South Africa in the early hours on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Ziaur Rahman, 32, of village Darinda Rasulpur in Matlab Dakkhin upazila, reports UNB.

Family members said, a group of miscreant opened fire on Ziaur while he was inside his grocery shop at around 10pm on Monday.

Ziaur was involved in grocery business along with other partners over there for the last 12 years. He visited his home one month ago and later returned to South Africa, they added.

"My husband talked to me over cellphone at around10 pm on Monday last" victim's wife Tanjina Begum said, adding that he had no enemy at his workplace."

"I am seeking cooperation of all including the Prime Minister to take necessary measures to bring back my husband's body to the country", she added.

AHMS Iqbal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Matlab Dakkhin Police Station, said that they are not yet informed about the incident.
