Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday ordered the authorities concerned to finish the ongoing repair work of roads and highways in the flood-affected areas 7 days ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
He came up with the directive after holding an emergency meeting in his secretariat office this morning.Quader also said that the damaged roads and highways will be repaired in time before the Eid-ul-Azha. So, there will be no suffering on roads and highways for Eid holidaymakers this year.
Most of the roads under Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) have been damaged due to this year’s flood. However, roads and highways under Road Transport and Highways Division have comparatively suffered less damage, the ministry officials said.
