Collect fitness certificates in two months: High Court to defaulter vehicle owners

The High Court (HC) on Tuesday asked defaulter vehicle owners to collect their fitness certificates from the office of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) in two months beginning from August 1.

The HC said if owners of the fitness defaulter do not collect fitness certificates by this time, those particular vehicles will not be allowed for plying on the roads after September 30.

The Court also asked the BRTA to issue a notification and circulate advertisement through the print and electronic media informing about the directives.

An HC bench comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam fixed October 15 for passing further order in this regard.

The BRTA submitted a report to the HC earlier in the day stating that a total of 4,79,320 unfit vehicles are plying on the roads across the country.
