The students and teachers of Government Titumir College on Monday formed a human-chain demanding the immediate arrest of those, who beat Taslima Begum Renu to death following a child-lifting rumour at Uttar Badda on Saturday.

They also demanded exemplary punishment of the people, who murdered Taslima Begum, a single mother of two children, Tahsin Al Mahin, 11, and Tahsin Tuba, 4.

The students and teachers of the college formed the human chain in front of the college’s entrance gate near Wireless intersection in the city's Mohakhali area on Monday noon.

The college Principal Ashraf Hossain said, “Common people are being made agitated spreading rumour and unscientific information. As a result, innocent people have to pay with their lives.”

He also demanded justice to Taslima Begum.

On Saturday, Taslima Begum Renu was beaten to death by a mob in front of Uttar Badda Government Primary School, where she went to take information about the admission process for her four-year-old daughter.

A police case was filed against 400 or 500 unknown people with Badda Police Station on the same night.

Based on CCTV footage police so far arrested four people for their involvement in Taslima Bagum Tenu murder till Monday.
