No heavy vehicle to ply highways for 3 days before and after Eid-ul-Azha: Quader

No heavy vehicles likes truck, lorry and covered van will ply roads and highways across the country for three days before and after the Eid-ul-Azha, Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Monday.

“CNG refueling stations will also remain open round the clock for seven days before and three days after the Eid-ul-Azha,” he said.

He disclosed the information in a preparatory meeting of Road Transport and Highways Division on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Azha at his secretariat office in the city.

Quader, also the general secretary of Awami League, said, “Our preparation and the condition of the roads and highways are better than the previous years. There will be no traffic jam in roads and highways during Eid journeys this year.”

The Roads of flood affected districts have been damaged to some extent, he said.

He also said, “The authorities concerned will repair the damaged roads on priority basis. So there won’t be any suffering on roads and highways this year.”
