Youth’s floating body recovered from Dhalai river in Sylhet

The body of a day labourer, who went missing on July 13, was found floating in Dhalai river at Companiganj upazila in Sylhet on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Helal, 28, son of Nuru Mia, a resident of Rajnagar village of the upazila.

Police said that a group of eight workers went to lift stones in the border area on July 13. At one stage, the members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) chased them when Helal fell into the Dhalai river from boat but his associates managed to flee.

Later, locals spotted the floating body in the river after seven days.

Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Companiganj Police Station said that the body was handed over to deceased’s family. An unnatural death case has been filed in this regard.
