Two lynched on suspicion of being child lifters in Badda, Keraniganj

In two other cases of lynching triggered by rumours, two people including a woman were beaten to death and one other was injured by mob on suspicion of being child-lifter in Uttar Badda area of the capital and Keraniganj on Saturday morning.

In Badda, a woman was beaten to death by agitated people on Kanchabazar road in Uttar Badda at around 9:00am.

Locals said that three women wearing burkas and hand gloves tried to enter Uttar Badda Government Primary School at around 8:00am. At one stage, local people nabbed one and gave her a good thrashing, leaving her critically injured. But, two of her associates managed to escape the scene.

On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the critically injured woman to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where on duty doctor declared her dead.

Officer- in-Charge of Badda police station Rafiqul Islam confirmed the news.

In Keraniganj, two youths, arrived in Rashulpur village in Hajratpur union of Keraniganj Model thana this morning and was talking with children, but when people asked them who they were and where they was coming from, they could give no answers.

Later, suspecting them to be child-lifters, local people gave them a good thrashing, leaving them critically injured.

On information, police rescued the youths and sent them to Sir Salimullah Medical College where duty doctor declared one dead.

The identities of the deceased and the injured could not be known yet.

In separate incidents, more than ten people were allegedly thrashed on suspicion of being child lifter across the country in last couple of days.
