A writ petition was filed with the High Court seeking Tk one crore compensation for each victim’s family who were killed in a tragic train-microbus collision in Ullapara, Sirajganj on Monday (July 15) last.
Supreme Court lawyer Humayun Kabir Pallab on Thursday filed the writ on behalf of a human rights organisation—‘Law & Life Foundation’.The writ likely to be heard at the HC bench comprised of Justice Mainul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Ashraful Kamal.
Earlier on Wednesday, the lawyer issued legal notice to the railways authorities asking to pay Taka one crore compensation to the family of each victim of the ill-fated bridal microbus that was crashed by Dhaka bound intercity train ‘Padma Express’ left 11 people dead and three others injured. The legal notice also sought Taka 10 lakh compensation for each injured.
Besides seeking compensation, the notice also asked the authorities to built level crossing, shut the illegal level crossings, ensuring the safety of railways gatemen and taking measures to stop passengers from travelling on train’s roof.
