The The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against suspended deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Mizanur Rahman and ACC director Khandaker Enamul Basir for their alleged involvement in bribery scam.
They were sued after the ACC found their audio conservation, which was leaked by DIG Mizan earlier, genuine through a forensic test.Confirming the lawsuit, ACC public relation officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee said, “ACC Director Sheikh Md Fanafillah has filed the case with the ACC coordinated district offices-1 of Dhaka on Tuesday noon.”
Earlier July 2, Dhaka Senior Special Judges’ Court sent DIG Mizan to jail after rejecting his bail petition in a case filed against him on charges of amassing over Tk 3 crore beyond his known sources of income.
DIG Mizan has recently alleged that ACC’s investigation officer Khandaker Enamul Basir took Tk 40 lakh as bribe with a false promise of exonerating him of all charges.
He also unveiled an audio tape of his conversation with Basir regarding giving bribe to him.
Later, ACC director Basir was suspended following the allegation of taking bribe from DIG Mizan.
