‘Drug dealer’ killed in Narayanganj ‘gunfight’

‘Drug dealer’ killed in Narayanganj ‘gunfight’

A suspected drug dealer was killed in an alleged gunfight with the Detective Branch (DB) of police in Fatullah of Narayanganj on early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Biplob, 32, son of Sultan Mia, resident of Chanmari slum in Fatullah. Police claimed that Biplob was accused in 14 drug cases.

The gunfight took place at Chanmari area of Dhaka-Narayangang link road of the upazila.

DB police claimed that two members of their force named ASI Osman and ASI Shohel also injured in the gunfight.

The law enforcers also recovered a one shooter gun from the spot.

DB police said a team of detectives conducted a drive in the area to arrest Biplob on Monday on a tip-off.

Sensing the presence of law enforcement officials, a group of drug traders opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight.

Later, police recovered bullet-hit body of Biplob from the spot, DB said.

Kamrul Hasan, Sub-Inspector of district police confirmed the news.
