The teachers of Dhanmondi Ideal College in the capital on Monday burnt mobile phones of students to ashes for violating rules of the institution.
Students of the college were asked repeatedly not to bring mobile phones in the college but they did not pay heed to the call of the authorities.The teachers of the college led by Principal Jasim Uddin seized around 500 cell phones of the learners and broke into pieces and finally burnt those.
According to students, they bring phones with themselves as most of them come to their college alone. As a result, they also brought mobile phones on Monday. Their teachers’ took their cell phones from them and informed that they will get back phones. But instead of giving them phones back the teachers broke those and burnt to ashes.
Principal of the institution Jasim Uddin claimed that the students have violated the rules although they have been warned on many occasions in this regard.
