DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon on Saturday paid a visit to the ailing house wife of a lawyer, who served a legal notice to DSCC seeking compensation for his dengue fever affected wife on July 11.
The mayor with DSCC officials visited Adv Tanzim Al Islam’s residence of Khilgoan in the capital.
Earlier, Adv Tanzim, a Supreme Court lawyer, served a legal notice to Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), seeking Tk 50 lakh as compensation for his wife, who was suffering from dengue fever.
He sent the legal notice to the mayor and chief executive officer (CEO) of the DSCC asking them to give him Tk 50 lakh as compensation in seven days.
According to the notice, The Supreme Court Lawyer alleged that his wife has been suffering from the fever due to the city corporation's failure to prevent Aedes mosquitoes.
The lawyer’s wife Sumi Akter was affected by dengue fever on June 29. She underwent treatment at a city hospital for five days but she is still sick, the notice said.
Tanzim claimed that the DSCC has completely failed to prevent Aedes mosquitoes in his neighbourhood therefore it must take the responsibility of his wife being affected by dengue fever.
The notice also warned of further legal action if the DSCC fails to comply with the demands.
