Suspected cattle thief lynched in Brahmanbaria

A suspected cattle thief was beaten to death by an agitated mob for trying to steal cattle at Lalpur village in Ashuganj upazila of Brahmanbaria on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Amzad Hossain, 20, son of Taher Mia, hailing from Tukchandpur village in Aganagar union of Voirab upazila under Kishorganj.

Quoting locals and Maynal Hossain, sub-inspector (SI) of Ashuganj Police Station said that Amzad Hossain and his associates entered Moktar Mia’s house to steal a cow. But, local people chased them hearing hue and cry of the inmates of the house and gave them a good thrashing, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was taken to District Sadar Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

But the deceased’s father alleged at Amjad was beaten to death in a pre-planned way.
