‘Robber’ killed in Pabna ‘gunfight’

A suspected robber was killed in reported gunfight with police in Sujanagar of Pabna on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Saiful Islam Geda, 30, son of Habibur Rahman Molla, a resident of Narsinghpur village of the upazila.

Police claimed that Saiful Islam was accused in five case including murder, rape, abduct and robbery with Pabna and Manikganj Police Station.

Police also claimed that three member of police were also injured in the gunfight

The injured were identified a, SI Minarul Islam, constable Amzad and Nurul Islam.

The gunfight took place around 2:30 am at Hasanpur area under upazila.

Arbindo Kumar, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sujanagar Police Station said a team of law enforcers conducted a drive in front of Saiful Islam’s house and arrested him.

After gleaning information from Saiful, police brought him to hasampur Eidgah field to recover arms. Sensing presence of law enforcers, Saiful ssociates opened fire on them forcing them to retaliate in self defence whice triggered a gun battle.

Later, Bullet hit Gedal was found lying on the ground after the gunfight and he was took to Upazila Health Complex. He died while undergoing treatment.

Police recovered a shutter gun and two rounds bullets from the spot.
