What to wear in the heat to look and stay cool

It may be hot outside but with quirky summer essentials like these, you’ll be looking forward to sunny days!

Dressing for the heat has become a routine for me so I usually just throw on my go-to T-shirt and jeans. But I’ve recently found that wearing a few select unique pieces can bring life to my dull outfits and make me look OOTD-ready!

1. Make a statement with your sunnies

When I was younger, I always bought sunglasses because it was so easy to transform my look from drab to chic with any one of them. But with all the gorgeous styles emerging, I’m narrowing down my buys to distinctive styles – like this butterfly-designed Fendi pair. I absolutely love the polka dot mirror brow paired with the orange tint as it adds a girlie quirkiness to my look. Plus, when it’s blazing outside, I skip out on necklaces and long earrings so this pair completes my outfit perfectly!

2. Cooling silhouettes can still be flattering!

One way I like to keep cool and comfy when I’m out is with a white top – bonus points if it’s a relaxed-fit blouse that still shows off my figure! This one here is great as it cinches my waist while providing just enough room for my skin to breathe. What I love most about it is how the pattern and fabric make this the perfect summer blouse. The polka-dot prints on the light, breathable and cooling fabric just puts you in the mood to have some fun in the sun!

3. Straw bags are the ultimate sunny weather bag

I must say that I jumped on the straw bag wagon a little late as I’ve only been looking out for them late last year. But the good news is that it’s still going strong and looks even better than when the trend first started! Take for instance this one by Donna Karan New York. I love that it’s large enough to put all my essentials in and has a separate pouch inside to keep my smaller valuables safe. As it goes with almost anything in my closet, I’d actually carry this bag everywhere – from weekend brunches to work!
