ACC sues FR Tower owner, 22 others over corruption

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday filed two cases accusing 23 people over violations of the law in approving the design and construction of the FR Tower in the capital’s Banani area.

ACC Deputy Director Abu Bakar Siddiqui filed both the cases with the ACC’s coordinated district office Dhaka—1 accusing 23 person on Tuesday.

ACC deputy director (Public Relation) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said, “We have filed two cases over corruption regarding the FR Tower fire incident where a total of 23 individuals have been accused of corruption charges.”

Among the total 23 accused are: FR Tower owner Md Hossain Imam Faruq, Rupayan Housing Estate limited chairman Liaquat Ali Khan Mukul, Qushem Drycells Batteries managing director Tasviru Islam, former Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) chairman KAM Harun and former Rajuk chief engineer Saidur Rahman.

A devastating fire on the eighth floor of FR Tower broke out on March 28 that killed 27 people and injured many others.
