Why is corruption taking place despite salary rise, HC questions

The High Court has asked why corruption and bribery are taking place despite the salary and other facilities of government officials are enhanced.

The HC bench of Justice MD Nazrul Islam Talukdar and Justice KM Hafizul Alam said  corruption must be eliminated from the country at any cost because the country has been made independent  48 years ago with a vision that there will be no corruption and rule of law will be established.

The HC bench made the remark while hearing a suo moto rule over the legality of the government’s inaction to stop running unfit vehicles.

“The country will not be developed and cannot go ahead, if the rule of law is not established,” the court said.

People of the country will have to work sincerely and the country will have to be brought under the discipline, it added.
