2-day science fair begins in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi Divisional Science and Technology Fair, 2019 under the auspices of Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner’s Office began here on Thursday aimed at infusing interests in youths about science and technology, reports BSS.

The two-day fair is being held at Rajshahi College Auditorium in association with Science and Technology Development Trust.

The main objective of the fair is to encouraging the young scientists towards more innovation alongside flourishing their latent talents and building a science-minded and knowledge-based society, officials said.

Some 42 institutions and science organizations and clubs from eight districts and Rajshahi metropolis are taking part in the fair displaying their scientific and ICT related innovations.

Commissioner of Rajshahi division Nur-Ur-Rahman addressed the inaugural session as the chief guest while Additional Divisional Commissioner Zakir Hossain was in the chair.

Deputy Director of Local Government Division Parvej Raihan, Social Worker Shaheen Akter Rainy and Vice Principal of Rajshahi College Prof Abdul Khaleque also spoke.

Nur-Ur-Rahman referred to various aspects of expanding science education towards doorsteps of the students both in rural and urban areas saying there is no alternative to acquiring scientific knowledge to take forward the nation technologically.

Educational institutions should take more responsibility of expanding science education among students, he said.

The fair, featured with science-related seminar and symposiums, will remain open from 10 am to 6 pm for all public.
